Today in Disaster History, This 29th Day of September, The 2009 Samoa Earthquake and Tsunami.
On this day a devastating Magnitude 8.1 Earthquake struck Samoa producing 14-meter (46 Foot) Tsunami waves. This event tragically took 189 precious lives. (Most of them children of Samoa).
This was to be the biggest earthquake of 2009.
There were more than 40 aftershocks within 48 hours of Magnitude greater than 5.
On this day, we send all our love and respect out to the families and people of Samoa that would be changed forever, on this 29th day of September 2009
